Local artist Pepper Pepper is many things; he is a painter, photographer, craftsman, jewelry-maker, marketer, philanthropist, teacher, public speaker and a free spirit … just to name a few.

He was born and raised in Miami, Fla., where he lived the first 12 years of his life sightless. After 10 operations, Pepper finally gained what he calls “pure sight” as an adolescent and began his love affair with creating art.

Seeking Arkansas artist for outdoor public art project

The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking to commission an Arkansas artist to create a permanent outdoor public artwork for the Main Library Campus located in the Historic River Market District at 100 Rock Street. The art work will be sited near the Cox Creative Center which is part of the Main Library campus.

Family Fun Fest: Applications are available for artist's exhibition spaces at the FAMILY FUN FEST, Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Dickey-Stephens  Park, downtown North Little Rock. Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, the event will include entertainment and music, a Kid Zone, and more than 100 vendors ranging from arts and crafts to retail businesses. Expected attendance at least 20,000 during the one day event.

Plein Air Painters of Eureka Springs (P.A.P.E.S.) meets Wednesday mornings at 8 a.m. at Studio 62 (on Hwy 62, next to the Bavarian Inn). The group paints at different locations weekly after leaving from Studio 62 promptly at 8 a.m. There are no fees. CanvasJunkie member Betty Johnson's painting, "Love AT First Bite" has been selected for inclusion in the Fifteenth Annual Regional Art Exhibition to be held in the Arts Center of the Ozarks, July 10 through August 7.  

One of the center's major yearly shows, the exhibit features artists from a ten state area. A reception will be held July 25 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, 214 SO Main ST,  Springdale, AR. For additional information visit: www.artscenteroftheozarks.org/
